Find Durham County Jail inmates...

Medications

Interview with Kristen and Grant

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Kristen: yes
Grant: not on anything

JM: How did you get your medications?
Kristen: called me to come get it
Grant: not me, but med staff came to pod to give out meds for inmates who needed them

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Kristen: I don't know I only take ones the dr says
Grant: if someone caught with drugs, lock down (not let out of cell) for everyone in entire pod, search of all cells and all inmates

My sister is in jail and they are not giving her the medications that her Dr has prescribed for her. What is this world coming to?

It is said prisoners get the same treatment as those on the streets (outside). This is not true. I can give countless stories about myself and others that were on meds and then was denied same by medical staff and/substituted for another cheaper or less potent meds. Methadone is a narcotic and lots of men and woman take it for different reason's. In Durham a pregnant woman is the only ones allowed methadone. Also for cancer patients who are on pain meds, you'll be given 800 mgs ibuprofen. That is the number one prescribed drug for pain. This is America and somewhere it is writted innocent until proven guilty. This is not true. It's the other way around. There have been several cases of death and suicide in the Durham county detention facility.
